Newsmaker

Improve your Reading and Presentation Skill with NewsMaker software

NewsMaker software, developed with help from the InfoComm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and with consultation from National Institute of Education (NIE), is used in many local schools as an effective platform for students to hone their oral linguistic skills as well as their presentation skills. With the help of a web camera and a microphone, students play the role of a broadcast journalist to create their own newscast in three easy steps - writing, reading and publishing their own news. In addition, students can put on virtual facial accessories like wigs, glasses, moustaches to spice up their news production. The produced news video can be easily uploaded to popular video portals like YouTube. Additional video effects can be downloaded for free from the NewsMaker website.

Students can use Newsmaker to create a News Video Production in which they are both the
journalist as well as the News Anchor.
They will be able to practise reporting-style writing as well as to practise reading/presenting with clarity and with confidence.

Newsmaker is an extremely easy software to use, using 3-steps approach to complete a project:
Write, Read and Publish.
Using Newsmaker is the easiest and quickest way for students to get acquainted with broadcast
journalism and they can then learn to appreciate and to be critical of broadcast journalism.
